California and Texas

I really like sports, a lot of people do.  I did not realize how much I missed watching football (of the American kind) and baseball.  God is gracious.

A few weeks back, I was able to join one of my colleagues from Nairobi on a motorcycle trip across much of Northern California.  The first day was across the Golden Gate Bridge, and the last was through Yosemite Valley.  I do not think there are any two other instantly recognizable places that say, “California,” more than those.  It was a great relaxing time, especially having spent so much time riding in Kenya.  I really enjoyed talking with Alan and getting to know his brother Steve.  They come from a great family that is a lot like mine.  Once you live in another country, you really feel like brothers, even with guys from NoCal. 😉

TexasAfter that trip, Cammy, the boys and I headed to Texas to visit my cousin Matt, and his family.  He is the pastor at Ridgeview Church in Rockwall, Texas, one of our supporting churches.  I had the added treat to be able to go on the Men’s retreat for the church and got to know some really cool guys.  We also spent a few days with some old friends and former neighbors of ours who now live in Keller, Texas.

I often forget how different the life we live is, and how it affects us.  Petr was really sad and did not want to leave Texas.

To tie it all back in, the last two places I visited were also the sites of the World Series.  No big deal, you say?  I thought it was cool.

I am also in the process of updating the picture gallery.  Sorry about any broken links.
